Contestants with an entrepreneurial flair are being sought by the BBC is seeking for its series The Apprentice.
The current series is at its final stages after seeing candidates participate in various tasks over a 12 week period, with the aim of exposing their entrepreneurial abilities.
The candidates are split into two teams and those on the winning team will be treated to a taste of the ‘executive’ lifestyle in the form of a luxury treat. But the project manager of the losing team must choose 2 members to accompany them back to the boardroom, and someone will get fired.
Tasks in the current series have included:
• selling products on a live television shopping channel
• creating a new brand of trainer with a poster and video advertisement
• purchasing 10 products in a day, each of which should not be bought at their initial asking price
• selling quality British food products overseas at a local French market
• selecting 2 artists to work with, mount an exhibition and sell as much art as possible
• designing, manufacturing & selling sweets at London Zoo
• starting a business in 1 day and making as much profit as possible from £200
• selling coffee on the streets of Islington
• designing a prototype of a product for dogs in 2 days and pitching it to 3 pet stores.
In the final episode finalists will be tasked with designing a new riverside building in central London.
Successful applicants will be called to an interview in the first 2 weeks of July 07 in either London, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham or Glasgow, and will be asked to bring a longer application form and a CV. The organisers highlight that the interview may only take a few minutes due to the number of applicants.
The closing date for applications is 29th June 07.
