Wrexham law firm Gwilym Hughes and Partners have warned that extra holidays for workers could lead to problems for employers. Running a business causes strain at home

The strain of running a small business can affect family life, with almost half of managers admitting that they put work before home commitments.

300 owners of small to medium sized businesses were studied and the researchers found that one in five had missed family holidays, and a similar number could not make a partner’s birthday celebration.

Abbey Business Banking conducted the survey which also showed that two-thirds of those questioned believed their work was a source of friction with their partner.

Ian Wilson, managing director of Abbey Business Banking said: “While the rewards of being your own boss can be great, as our research shows it’s not all plain sailing.

“It’s no wonder it causes a bit of friction at home from time to time.”
