Small businesses hit by the postal strike are now more likely than ever to seek out private alternatives to Royal Mail, a British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) survey has revealed. The snap poll, conducted over the weekend, shows that 55% of small businesses are now more likely to use private delivery companies, even after the current strike is resolved. Read more…

Three Wrexham companies have won through to two of the categories in the Daily Post’s prestigious Achievement Wales 2007 Business Awards.
The competition which is supported by executive sponsors HSBC Bank and the Welsh Assembly Government seeks the stars of the North and Mid Wales business world.
Shortlisted in the Welsh Assembly Government sponsored Business Start-up Award are Wrexham-based Procurasell International Packaging, and Cuski International, which has a distribution centre on Wrexham Industrial estate. Also shortlisted are Caernarfon-based Eryri Leisure.
Shortlisted in the competition’s Small Business category sponsored by Finance Wales, are model train manufacturer Dapol of Chirk, the Corporate Food Company of Pentre, Flintshire and Sealand-based Dandy’s Topsoil.
The winners of these categories, and those of the other eight awards, will be announced at a glittering award ceremony and gala dinner at the Pritchard Jones Hall, Bangor University, on November 30.

Today International Credit Union Day today will celebrate the work of Wales’ 33 not-for-profit credit unions which provide more than 34,000 members with access to secure saving facilities and low cost loans.
