A spate of unauthorised banners put outside Wrexham’s B&Q store have proved expensive for the store giant.
Magistrates fined the company £600 with £95 costs following a successful prosecution by Wrexham County Borough Council.
B&Q constantly breached regulations by advertising on a fence at the Berse Road Retail Park.
There are strict controls which have been in place since the mid 1980s with the regard to displays of advertisements and illuminated signs because there are houses opposite.
The council offers free advice to businesses in Wrexham Borough and urge companies to contact them in advance as unauthorised displays can leave businesses liable.
